8: Evaluation in Context 2.

Rob approved my evaluation plans, therefore I was able to fill out the ethics form. To do this, I had to place my evaluation ideas into the context of evaluation methodology. I did this by embracing the literature mentioned in blog #6. Please refer back to this blog. Below is a table outlining how I plan to fulfill the first two steps of the evaluation methodology. This table only outlines the first two as the final two steps are to be taken following the evaluation itself.

StepPlan
Define the parameters of the evaluationI am completing this evaluation as a method to better understand how I work collaboratively with others. This will also help me understand whether I was successful in achieving my project aims. I plan on evaluating the Creative School pupils by asking them questions at the end of the session. The questions will be similar to these; How fun would you rate today’s session?Would you like to do something similar in the future?Do you feel more comfortable communicating with those different to you?Do you feel that the session has boosted your mood?  Do you feel you have a better opinion of yourself now these workshops have finished? I will be following the university guidelines by completing an ethics form, following any procedures that Rob feels necessary and making the school aware.
Design the methods used for the evaluationThe evaluation will take place on the 27th March 2020 at Plymouth Music Zone. Therefore, all aspects of planning need to be completed by then. These include the ethics form, making the school aware and the questions themselves. As stated above, the students will be asked five questions. The evidence will be gathered in the following way. The room will be divided into three sections for Very/Yes, Kind of and Not at all/No. The students will move into the corresponding areas that reflect their answer to the question. No written answers will be required. Information will be taken by looking at the general consensus and making a note. This evaluation is being planned alongside Rob from PMZ with supervision from my personal tutor, Ed.
Evaluation table.

As you can see from the table above, I have had to complete an ethics form. I have completed this and sent this to my personal tutor. In a tutorial on 28/02/2020, he stated that the questions I wished to ask were too complex for the year eight students to answer. I therefore rephrased the questions into simpler terms which are the questions provided in the table above. I have sent the new ethics form back to my tutor for approval.

Alongside Rob approving my evaluation plan, he also approved my cool down plan however he said that the actions in the main activity may be too confusing for the participants to carry out. My next job is to think about this and send some new ideas to Rob.
